James McIntyre

James guides Renown’s investment strategy and long-term vision and drives our disciplined approach to risk management and portfolio construction.
Prior to co-founding Renown, James spent nearly two decades at Moore Capital Management, initially joining as an intern in 2005 while attending Columbia Business School. James joined Moore full-time after graduation and worked as an analyst for an Emerging Market Equity portfolio before covering global commodities and eventually managing a generalist equity allocation with a mandate to invest in European Equities.
In 2012, James began to also help Louis Bacon invest personal capital outside of the Moore Capital mandate, specializing in Master Limited Partnerships and special situations, a few of which involved private transactions. Around the 2018 timeframe, James began a more dedicated effort to build out Moore’s direct investing business, now called Moore Strategic Ventures (MSV).
James holds a BA from Princeton University (’99) and an MBA from Columbia Business School where he graduated from its Value Investing Program. He currently sits on the boards of Ample, Aurora Labs, Black Kite, Omaze, Utilidata, and Waterloo.
